The old saying, trash in - trash out doesn't only apply to a garbage can or a garbage truck, it applies to people also. Whatever we allow to be put in our minds is what will eventually come out in some shape, form or fashion. It may be in the way we act, the way we dress or the way we perceive the world around us. The difference in people is what they allow to be put in their minds - some things make us a negative person, some things make us a positive, optimistic, hopeful person. I don't know about you, but I know which one I'd rather be around.

God tells us in Philippians 4:8Phil 4:8 - Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things., a way to get to a better place in life by controling our thoughts. While we do need to stay connected to reality; by this I mean it's not good to live in a dilusional state; we also need to control what consumes our thoughts, therefore somewhat controling our character. We live in a world where it seems like evil is on every side, a weakened nation, troubled school systems, crime on the rise, the world seems to be coming apart at the seams, and in the midst of all this, there's little old you. Be concerned about what's going on around you, but don't let it consume every waking thought you have. God says to think upon things that are true, things that are honest, things that are just, things that are pure, things that are lovely, things of good report, if you can find any virtue or things that are praisworthy, think on those things. I believe you will find that God is right, your life will begin to take a turn for the better and you will be more at peace within yourself.
