Gods marvelous grace

There are so many views of God's grace, some say that it is unmerited favor, we didn't do anything to cause God to shed his grace on us, but he did anyway just because he loves us. Not to be to critical of that definition; but that is such a shallow definition of something that seems to be so deep. One of the better definitions of God's grace is pointing to what Jesus did on the cross for all that would call upon his name. The cross of Christ is the epitomethe summary of the complete work of God's grace, it sums it up for all to understand. He gave his only begotten son as a sacrifice for his straying, sinning, rebellious creation. None of us deserved for someone else to take the fall for our failings, sins, and shortcomings in life. The Cross of Christ is sum of all of God's grace toward his creation.gods grace at calvary

The Old Testament version of God's grace does the concept of grace so much more justice and it presents it in all of God's fullness. The Bible tells us in Exodus 34:5-7Exo 34:5 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.
6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.   KJV
that the Lord descended in a cloud and met with Moses and there he declared his grace toward his creation. God declared that he was a merciful and graceious God, which was patient and had an abundance of goodness and righteousness. He also delcared that he was able to forgive iniquity, transgression and sins. Merciful toward his creation, gracious, patient, good and forgiving - that definition gives us a little deeper look at the idea of God's grace. You see my friends, it is the very character of the God who created us to shed his grace on us - we were created by him, and for him, but yet we turned away from him, but he still is willing to take us back in as one of his sons or daughters, even after rejecting him.
That is God's grace !
