Good health is a condition that we all desire, it is a necessity to live a good, full life and a prosperous life. Far to often we take God's blessing of good health for granted instead of being thankful to our creator for giving it; it's kind of like electricity or running water in our homes, we don't miss it until we don't have it. There are many common things that we have to deal with that everybody else deals with; like colds, flu, pneumonia, alergies and the such; things that are just part of living that we have to do the best we can to get through. And then there are the bigger things like diseases, major illnesses, and different conditions that develop in peoples lives that completely disrupt their lives. Those are the ones that strike fear into the hearts of people.
The plain and simple truth is that we are all going to get old, we are all going to wear out, and eventually we are all doing to dieHebrews 9:27 - And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: KJV. But at the same time, we all want to live as healthy as we can, for as long as we can; while we are here. God tells us some ways in his word to have a healthier life. In Proverbs 3:7-8Pro 3:7 - Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. KJV, God through his holy spirit tells us that fearingreverencing, respecting him, living righteously and learning to depend on Him in every area of our lives will help us to live a healthier life. Just the knowledge of living a righteous life, acknowledging God and depending on him to
help will lessen the stress, heartache and grief in our lives - better health already. The Psalmist David asked himself the question in Psalm 42:11Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. KJV, why am I down and out? And then he realized that hope in God is healthy. Hope... the little four letter word that gives us a reason to get up every morning. Hope... a little word that helps us to be healthier. Hope... a little word that can only be truly realized when a person has a right relationship with Jesus Christ. Those of us that have that relationship know that this isn't all there is, the best is yet to come and that knowledge can make a person happier and healthier - Proverbs 17:22Pro 17:22 - A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. KJV.
